‘…the power of an indestructible life.’ Hebrews 7.16
The author of the letter to the Hebrews describes the nature of the living Jesus as one who bears ‘the power of an indestructible life’. This has incredible implications for us.
In Ephesians 1.20-21, we read that Jesus is enthroned in heaven, far above every other power. However we also know that the same Jesus who is enthroned on high is alive and living within us. The power he has in heaven is also the power he has within us, which means that in each of us dwells the one who has the power of an indestructible life.
The truth is that nothing can stop the active life of Jesus within you; he is indestructible. There is nothing he cannot do within you and through you.
Take a few moments to think about the implications of this. There is a phrase in Jeremiah 15.16 that is worth coming back to: ‘I bear your name, Lord God Almighty’. Sit quietly and repeat this verse a few times, and in doing so focus on the truth of who it is reigning within you and what could happen today as a result.
