Seeing and hearing more

“For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” Matthew 13.17

These words are amazing!  Jesus was telling his disciples that they were experiencing things that their forebears throughout the Old Testament would have longed to have seen and heard.  What’s more, this doesn’t simply apply to them!  Thanks to the Bible and all it reveals about the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we too have access to a vision and understanding of God that people before the time of Jesus did not have.  The question is – what are we doing about it?

There seems little point in living with the amazing revelation that Jesus is present with us if we do not take it seriously; calling upon his presence whenever we can.  What is the point of Jesus revealing the Father’s love to us if we do not recognise and enjoy living in it?

The Christian faith is so glorious, but the full weight of it only touches us if we let the truths revealed in the pages of the Bible touch us personally.

Why not begin to let the truth impact you more deeply?  Jesus said he would always be with you, so choose to believe him.  He is actually with you right now, so take a moment to close your eyes and focus on the significance of these three simple words: ‘You are here.’
