What do you see?

‘When the kings joined forces, when they advanced together, they saw her and were astounded; they fled in terror.’ Psalm 48. 4-5

This verse describes what happened when the kings advanced on Jerusalem to attack it.  They saw something of God there that caused fear to rise up within them.  I wonder what the people actually living in Jerusalem saw?  Perhaps nothing at all!

The Bible describes us as ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ (1 Corinthians 6.19).  We carry something of the presence of God within us, and yet so often we are unaware of this glorious truth because we don’t feel it.

One way to begin to see his presence within us is to try to grasp something of the change and transformation that he is bringing about within us.  It is quite hard to ask other people if they are noticing any change in us, but it might be good to sit down and try to answer the question honestly ourselves.

  • What has God been doing in our lives?
  • What difference has his presence made to us?
  • Where can we see the touches of transformation occurring?

Sometimes it can be hard to hear people giving testimony to the great things God is doing in their lives, when we feel that not much is happening to us.  Yet the reality is that great things may well be occurring in our lives, but perhaps more slowly or over a longer period of time.  Discover what God is doing within you – and be encouraged!
