We matter to God

“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12.6-7

These words, spoken by Jesus, are almost unbelievable!  God sees every bird and not one of them is forgotten by him – and then his message gets better still.  If this is true for the birds, how much more so for us?  God even knows the number of hairs on our heads.  It can be so hard, especially in times of difficulty, for us to believe that we matter to God – yet we do.

The story of the New Testament is one of God, in the person of Jesus, coming to this world to live as one of us.  It speaks of him being tempted in every way just as we are – which means just as you are.  It speaks of Jesus dying on the cross for the sins of the whole world – which means for your sins.  It speaks of Jesus rising from the dead to live in you – not just other people, but you.  Every one of us matters.  Every person you will come across today matters so much to God that Jesus died for them.

Take a few minutes to let the truth of these words touch you, “I really matter to God”.
