The active God

‘When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way. In the path where I walk people have hidden a snare for me.’ Psalm 142.3

If each of us was invited to suggest an ideal environment for people to experience the presence of God we would undoubtedly come up with a range of different ideas.  I suspect that many of them would involve creating a peaceful and comforting atmosphere.  However, it is not often that we find ourselves in a perfect environment and this verse assures us that the absence of perfect circumstances is no barrier for God’s presence.

We read about God’s presence being there in the most difficult of circumstances – when our spirit grows faint or when we are in a dangerous place.  It actually goes further than this and says that God’s presence doesn’t simply exist, but is actively watching over us on our way through life.

However you feel and no matter how strong or weak your faith, take a moment to recognise this truth – the living God is watching over you.
