‘Then he said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”’ Luke 9.48
To welcome Jesus is to welcome the Father; it is to have access to all the wonder and the resources of God in your life.
When you build your relationship with Jesus, you can indeed find a real, ongoing friendship, but it doesn’t stop at friendship – there is more. When you find the presence of Jesus you are also close to everything that is in him – his love, kindness, power and authority.
This verse is also encouraging because it is for everyone. The way Jesus put it is that if you are involved in what may seem like a small activity, such as welcoming children, then you are actually welcoming Jesus himself, and all that is within him. Never think you are not good enough for the things of God’s kingdom to be a reality in your life. The full resources of God’s heaven are there for each one of us.
This view will make a significant difference to the way I will undertake my children’s work. Such an amazing statement. Never thought if it like that before
