“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2.11
It is likely that today is going to be marked by Christmas carols! Not only in churches, but also in shopping centres, lifts and car parks! People are going to be exposed to the amazing message of Christmas relayed through the carols being piped out over loudspeakers.
Such carols may be extremely familiar to us, but we would do well to take to heart the central message being proclaimed – that God has sent us a Saviour, Jesus. This message is at the heart of our faith, but is so easy to disregard.
Many people are beset by difficulties of one sort or another – possibly illness, anxiety, fear or a host of other things. All too often we wonder what we can do about such problems and whether we actually have the capacity to deal with them. This is where the Christmas message becomes very real – God has sent us a Saviour.
It really is ok to acknowledge your difficulties and concerns and to admit that you don’t have what it takes to deal with this yourself. The good news is that you don’t have to! God has sent you a Saviour. He is closer to you now than you can even imagine. Talk to him and share your heart with him.
