‘…we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel.’ 1 Thessalonians 2.4
It is an amazing thought that God trusts us with the gospel. Of course he goes before us, stands with us and even follows after us to patch up our mistakes – but it seems he doesn’t go instead of us. We have been entrusted with the message that Jesus came to save the world, and he also came to save us. The question is, what are we doing with this message, both for ourselves and for others?
The responsibility each of us has towards ourselves is to foster, feed and maintain our relationship with Jesus; seeking his glory, hiding nothing, bringing our needs to him and letting him bring his transformation to our lives. Our responsibility to the world is to shine with Jesus; to let others see the person of Jesus in us, to reflect his compassion and to be willing to take a stand for him. To be entrusted with something means that we are trusted.
God chose you before the foundation of the world so that you would be a bearer of his gospel. He has chosen you for this even though you might not feel up to the task, but the one who knows you through and through has given you the treasure of the good news of Jesus, both for your benefit and as a blessing for all those with whom you come into contact.
