“Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” Luke 2.11
It’s a shame that some Bible passages are only read at certain seasons because we miss out on the power of their message throughout the rest of the year. This is one such passage, usually only read at Christmas, but which actually has a daily application for us.
When the angels made this pronouncement to the shepherds, it did not only have a relevance for that particular day but would change their lives forever. After these words had been spoken, every day the shepherds would be able to relate to God and to life in a different way; everything changed because Jesus had come.
We need to take this proclamation seriously; today, there is a Saviour standing very close to you. Whatever plans you have for the day ahead which might be causing you anxiety, you face them hand in hand with your Saviour. Whatever you may look back on with regret, you do so in the company of your Saviour. Whatever befalls you throughout this day, you will not be alone, but your Saviour will be with you.
“Today, Jesus my Saviour, you are with me.”
