‘May your unfailing love come to me, Lord, your salvation, according to your promise;’ Psalm 119.41
Do you ever wonder where God is? Perhaps you cannot sense his love as you have in the past and you feel quite alone. Yet this reassuring verse says that there is almost an inevitability about the love of God coming to us.
We are told that God’s love is unfailing; in other words, it does not depend on whether or not we can feel it or sense it because it never ceases. In a way, the psalmist’s prayer does not make sense! If God’s love is unfailing, then it can’t have gone away so why should it come to us? However, the prayer is more along the lines of, ‘Let me experience something of the unfailing love you have for me.’ Isn’t this a prayer we so often want to pray?
If the psalmist prayed it, then you can! Begin by holding on to the truth that God really does love you with an unfailing love, and then turn the prayer of the psalmist into your prayer, “Today, let me experience something of the unfailing love you have for me.”
