‘…who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.’ 2 Corinthians 1.4
At times we wonder if we are really of much use at all. We seem to be going through life without really contributing much to the lives of others. What have we possibly got to give to other people? This powerful verse assures us that every one of us can bring to others what God has given to us.
Take a moment to consider how God has given you comfort or brought help to you? You might be able to remember specific instances of his provision or his healing hand upon you. Perhaps his comfort seemed more like a guiding hand through a storm rather than relief from the elements, or maybe it was the presence of a friend simply being with you when there didn’t seem to be much light or comfort.
This is what God has done for you – and this is what you can pass on to others. Your story, told with conviction and gentleness, may be exactly what they need to hear to encourage them. Your presence alongside a person in need may make all the difference as they walk through a difficult time.
What God has given you is a real gift, so allow it to be a gift to others as well.
