‘But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.’ 1 Corinthians 12.18
Acknowledging that you are a gift has profound implications, especially in the way you see yourself. The self-image many people have is not so much of a gift but as a victim. They believe they have become the person they are because of what has happened to them, and as a result life can be one long succession of being hurt and recalling past hurts.
By inviting you to see yourself as a gift, God is offering you a chance to look up and see your life differently. You are not a victim, bumping into obstacles along life’s path, but instead you are a gift to the people and situations in which you find yourself; a gift to bring something of the light of God to those you meet.
As you think about the hours ahead, focus on some of your plans and commitments and see yourself as a gift of God to the people you will meet there. God has put you into these situations to bring something of him to others.
