‘You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with
songs of deliverance.’ Psalm 32.7
Most of us have been through times when we feel as if we are in a pit and need rescuing. We know that God is our rescuer but finding his rescue can be another matter. This lovely sentence speaks about both the promise of help and a way in which we can begin to find it. God surrounds us with songs of deliverance – wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could hear them? We can, but we have to learn to listen.
We all have our own way of reading the Bible. One good method is to keep a pen and paper handy to write down any promises that seem relevant to your current situation or present challenges. As you ponder them, let them become God’s songs of deliverance for you in what you are going through. You might want to paraphrase them and put them in to your own words, as the main thing is to make them become personal for you.
Once we hear the songs of deliverance that God is speaking to us, we can begin to let them touch us. Once they touch us, then the way through begins to open up for us.
